Costa Rica Fad Fishing
Fads are fish aggregate devices set on sea mounts off the coast of Costa Rica. The structure holds massive schools of bait (small yellowfin tunas). These vast fish colonies lure swarms of blue marlin to fad waters, offering the world’s best in blue marlin fishing. Days with over 20 marlin encounters are the norm not the exception on these underwater mountains.
These fish are targeted either by trolling, bait-and-switch fishing or live baiting with the yellowfin tunas that live on the fads. Double and even triple hook ups are common occurrences on the fads! These trips are generally 3-night fishing trips for up to 4 people. Peak season is from May to October.
We provide fad trips leaving form Quepos, Costa Rica, as well, if you want to explore the country’s southern pacific coast. We also offer limited expedition trips to Panama’s Hanibal Bank, offering the best black marlin fishing in this hemisphere, where mothership accommodations are available.
